Summer Camp
Tillamook Forest Discovery Day Camp 2008
An outdoor day camp for students entering 5th or 6th grade
Join us for a week of discovery and fun in the Tillamook State Forest! Campers rendezvous each day at the Oregon Department of Forestry district office and then travel to the Tillamook Forest Center and various locations on the forest.
What Will Campers Do?
Campers will get to try their hand at shelter-building, swimming, hiking, camping, kayaking and games/crafts, while learning how to do each safely and responsibly. They’ll explore the forest, search for wildlife, and participate in hands-on activities designed to introduce them to the forest’s ecology, history, recreation opportunities and current management. The week closes with an overnight campout at Jones Creek Campground on Thursday night where campers will enjoy an evening campfire, prepare a group meal and get a chance to go on a night hike.
How Much Does It Cost?
This camp is sponsored by the Oregon Forest Resources Institute and the Oregon Department of Forestry. The cost for a full week of fun activities is $100.00 and covers all necessary transportation costs, recreation equipment, snacks for each day, and the meals for the overnight campout.
